Cascade Locks Festival Of Nations
September 29th-30th, 2007

On September 29th and 30th, 2007, Cascade Locks and The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs will be hosting the Third Annual Festival of Nations. The event will be held in the Marine Park in Cascade Locks, along the Columbia River. Cascade Locks is a beautiful historic town in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge, located 40 miles east of Portland off I-84, exit number 44.

In 2005, the two communities kicked off the Festival with “Two Communities, One Vision,” to celebrate the culture and heritage of those who settled and developed the communities of the Columbia River Gorge. In 2006, more communities were invited to celebrate culture. The future vision is to encourage more cultural exchanges through sister city projects, interactive art, as well as a variety of education and foreign exchanges.

We are looking for sponsorships to enhance our celebration. The Festival will feature ethnic dancers, musicians, food vendors, arts and craft demonstrations, cultural learning activities and a hands-on children’s art area. Also included are interactive learning opportunities about salmon, sturgeon and their habitat, as well as the annual “Salmon Run.” The run emphasizes salmon restoration, in addition to having a healthy 10K run to Eagle Creek and back to Cascade Locks, or taking part in the fun run.

Children and families are an important part of our festival. Through education, we create social, cultural and environmental responsibility.

Looking forward to welcoming you in Cascade Locks!
